Our thematic areas

Food justice.

CEFROHT works to promote the right to adequate food. That is, food security, sovereignty, safety, nutrition and prevention of food related NCDs. Under this thematic area, work is directed towards ensuring universal access to nutritious, affordable, and culturally-appropriate food for all, while advocating for the well-being and safety of those involved in the food production process.

Climate justice.

CEFROHT promotes climate justice using a human rights-based approach while acknowledging and promoting the implementation of international environmental and climate change legal instruments like the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biodiversity among others. To promote climate justice CEFROHT promotes the Constitutional   right to a clean and healthy environment as a linchpin for sustainable development. This is done especially through promoting agroecology for sustainable agriculture system. CEFROHT therefore uses legal tools for climate mitigation and adaptation like agroecology for safe food production, prevention and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This is because, climate change is ongoing with adverse and severe impacts on human rights like the right to adequate food and right to livelihoods. CEFROHT seeks applies the concept of climate justice to address the adverse impacts of climate change to women and youths’ wellbeing, food security, income security, sustainable agriculture and livelihoods.

Economic justice.

Under this thematic area, CEFROHT promotes factors of production particularly land as a right. CEFROHT works to promote land as a human right. Working with communities for their land rights’ legal empowerment and sustainable access to justice using the Human Rights Enforcement Act. CEFROTH promotes constitutional economic entitlements like right to trade especially in the Local Governments systems through the production, commerce and agriculture offices. Using legal tools for sustainable livelihoods projects for income, personal and property security. Therefore, CEFROHT works to create an opportunity for each person to create a sufficient material foundation upon which to have a dignified, productive, and creative life beyond economics.
